MAKE EVERY STEP COUNT

Get the dimensions you need without accidental stretching

Prepare images for articles, profile pictures, and presentations. Keep the original aspect ratio or enter independent dimensions.

Prepare a website asset

Resize a large photograph to a practical size for its intended display area. Consider whether the destination uses high-density screens, then compare the resized preview against the original rather than making every upload as small as possible.

Fit a size requirement

Create an image that meets an application's pixel limits. With aspect ratio enabled, adjusting one dimension calculates the other. If the destination requires a different shape, resizing alone may stretch the image; crop it in an image editor first.

Get the best result

Enlarging a small image may make it blurry. Dimensions are limited to 10,000 pixels and 40 million total pixels to protect browser memory.

SEE WHAT TO EXPECT

A practical example

Starting point
A 1920 × 1080 image resized to a width of 1280 with aspect ratio enabled.
Expected result
A 1280 × 720 image.

Both dimensions are scaled by the same proportion. The resulting height is rounded to a whole number of pixels.

KEEP YOUR WORK MOVING

Troubleshooting and useful checks

The result looks stretched

Keep the aspect ratio checkbox enabled. If you enter independent width and height values with it disabled, the image is scaled to that rectangle even when it differs from the original shape.

A dimension is rejected

Use positive whole pixels up to 10,000 per dimension, with no more than 40 million pixels in total. Smaller output dimensions also reduce browser memory requirements.

HELPFUL ANSWERS

Frequently asked questions

A little clarity before you get started.

Can I avoid stretching?

Yes. Keep the aspect ratio option enabled.

Can I enlarge an image?

Yes, within the tool's dimension limits. Enlarging creates more pixels but cannot restore missing detail, so a small source can look soft or pixelated when scaled up.

Does this crop the image?

No. The complete image is scaled to the requested rectangle. Use an image editor to crop unwanted areas or change the composition before resizing.

What does Keep original aspect ratio do?

It links width and height using the source image's proportions. Changing either field recalculates the other to help prevent stretching.

Will a smaller image always have a smaller file size?

Not always. File size also depends on output format, image content, and export quality. Compare the generated size, especially when switching between formats.

Do I need an account to use this tool?

No. This tool is free to use without signing in. An account lets you keep a list of favorite tools.

Can I use this on a phone?

Yes, with a current browser. File support, download behavior, and available memory vary by device. For large documents and images, a computer is often more comfortable.
